What happens over time is that pores in the stone naturally start to widen, this causes the stone to appear dull and lifeless, tightening the pores brings back or adds a natural sheen to the stone. To carry out this process the marble needs to be burnished. This involves using a set of diamond encrusted pads, starting with a low grit which helps clean the stone, up to a very fine grit, the marble needs to be rinsed off between every grit, before the fine grit pad is applied which will leave a natural sheen finish. The floor is allowed to dry before sealing. A high shine seal can also be applied.
