Rough riven can be hard to maintain as grooves in the slate catch and retain dirt, this can be resolved by deep cleaning and seal applied. Some customers have had rough lippage on slate ‘milled’ so that it becomes smoother and not a trip hazzard. Smoother slate can also be sealed, a sheen finish can look great on slate and colours in the stone can really shine through.
