Terrazzo flooring originated from italy and became popular in the 1920’s. It’s made from chips of marble, quartz, glass and other suitable materials mixed in cement then polished to a smooth finish. Terrazzo is used and found all over the world, from the hollywood walk of fame to your local supermarket floor.
Like marble, what happens over time is that pores in the stone naturally start to widen, this causes the stone to appear dull and lifeless, tightening the pores brings back or adds a natural sheen to the stone. To carry out this process the terrazzo needs to be rinsed off between every grit pad, before the fine grit pad is applied which will leave a natural sheen finish.
